About Me

Hi! I’m Sam :D My two biggest passions are swimming and books (Harry Potter and The Hunger Games mainly). If I could live in the ocean I would. And if I could read all the time, I probably would. If I could live in the ocean and read books the rest of my life, I would be perfectly content with that, especially if all my friends and family could come live with me :D

I’ve been a huge Harry Potter fan for almost 15 years. I discovered The Hunger Games trilogy in September of 2011 and my love for the series has grown surprisingly fast. Books are a huge part of my life, so if you want suggestions feel free to ask away!! I’ve probably read something you haven’t :) Other than books, I enjoy playing video games, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and swimming.

Harry Potter means a lot to me. If you ever want to talk to anyone about Harry Potter, I’d be more than happy to talk to you! I was a hatstall on Pottermore, which I hear is extremely rare, seeing as no one I’ve ever talked to has had the choice between two houses. After the original seven questions, an eighth question was posed, basically asking me if I wanted to be in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. I picked Ravenclaw because I’ve always associated myself more with my intellectual side rather than my emotional side [also I already had a set of Ravenclaw robes and I like blue better than yellow lol]. You can read about my Pottermore stuff here.

The Hunger Games is an awesome trilogy that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout all three books. Personally I like Catching Fire the best since the Arena is sickkk and Finnick is introduced, my favorite character from my favorite district. If I could pick, I’d live in District 4 because I’ve loved swimming since I was 2 years old. That’s when I started taking swim lessons, which eventually pushed me to join the swim team when I was 8. I absolutely love being in the water (in other words I am Haru from Free! - for those of you who watch anime…). Seafood is also my favorite food, and I don’t know how I would cope without it.

Some of my favorite video games are the Mother/Earthbound series (Mother 3 is my favorite), Portal 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Super Mario World, Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario Sunshine, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, Super Smash Bros. (all three), Mario Kart (all four), and others.

As for anime, I’ve only been watching for about a year and a half but some of my favorites include Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Code Geass, Anohana, Hyouka, Blue Exorcist, and Another.

I’m also part of a Japanese American club on my school’s campus (actually I’m president…second term for the 2014-15 school year; gonna be my fourth year on board….started as secretary, then was culture chair, then president, then president again haha). That basically consumes all my free time since we go out to eat and hang out all the time. So if I ever talk about my club or whatever then this is what I’m referring to.

As for school, I’m an Environmental Biology major with an emphasis in Microbiology. My dream job would be working in a research lab dealing with adult stem cells and trying to figure out a way to grow them into nerve cells. Then hopefully I’d be able to implant them into patients who have lost feeling in parts of their body or are paralyzed. It would actually benefit me too if I was to figure out how to do this because in the summer of 2012, I had jaw surgery (mandible osteotomy or something like that) to correct my underbite and permanently lost feeling in the area between my bottom lip and my chin. Before undergoing this surgery, I signed a waiver saying that I may lose feeling in my jaw/chin area….I never thought that I would actually  lose feeling permanently. I gained feeling back in most of my jaw area but there’s still that one area where I can’t feel for the most part and it’s been almost 2 years (it sucks cuz if something dribbles out of my mouth I won’t feel it until it travels down to my chin lol).

If you’ve read this whole entire thing, yay for you!! I don’t expect many people to read it all haha….if you do, feel free to drop me an ask to share what stuff we may have in common!!

Life story here.
